Appointments

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

During the pandemic, the practice is operating under instruction from NHS England and Public Health England. These instructions mean that all requests for appointments with the GP will first be a consultation on the phone with the GP. Face to face appointments are available, and have been occurring throughout the pandemic, for those patients who the GP feels that it is clinically needed. As part of this triage system approach, the GP may feel that it is more appropriate for you to be seen by our Nursing team (including our Healthcare Assistant).

There are also limited face to face appointments that we have been advised are safe to go ahead with our nursing team, and these are centred around long term condition reviews and/or blood tests that are required to be monitored for the safe prescribing of your medications.

On the day of your appointment you will receive a text message asking you to answer covid related questions about your health. Please answer these honestly. If you do not answer these honestly and you are later found to be positive for the coronavirus then this would be a criminal offence under the Coronavirus Act 2020.

This system is in place to ensure both the safety of not only you, the clinicians and staff here at the practice, but also for all other patients registered with the practice

Thank you for your understanding.

diaryMorning Surgery

*Below is currently suspended due to Covid 19*

Morning Surgery is an open session and the doors open at 08:00. As long as you get here before 10:00 you will be seen that morning, as long as the GP's have not exceeded their recommended limit.

There is an option to stay and wait, or go away and come back again if your position in the queue is viewed to be too long a wait.

  • It is advised to call us on 0161 721 4865 at a time that is agreed by the reception staff and yourself
  • If you choose to go away and come back again for your turn to be seen by the doctor in the morning surgery: Make sure you let the reception know that you have returned.

Wouldn’t it be better if your wait to be treated in the open Surgery was shorter?

Well we have listened to you, and now it is!!!

  • Most mornings we operate a Triaging system by our nurses
  • You may be called in to see the nurse before you see the doctor as, being able to prescribe medications, she may be able to attend to your condition
  • If you still need to see the doctor, you will not have missed your place in the surgery

Afternoon Appointments

Doctors

Appointments for the Doctors operate between 14:00 and 18:00 each afternoon, except Wednesdays, when Lynn (the practice nurse) is available to consult with. You can book an appointment over the phone by ringing 0161 721 4865 from 08:00

Most of the appointments can only be booked on the same day. The lines open at 08:00, however the appointments are usually taken very quickly so please ensure that you call as close to 08:00 as possible to give you the best possible chance of getting an appointment

As the demand for appointments is so high, please make sure you will be able to attend the appointment

There are also are available appointments specifically reserved for people who either work,  for a child if their parent works, those who have a carer, or who are a carer for another person themselves, and finally should the patient require a translator who must be booked in advance. These appointments can be booked up to 6 weeks in advance.

Whilst we will try to book you with the Doctor of your choice, it may not always be possible. All doctors and Locums have full access to your medical history and medication.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend a booked appointment please give us as much notice as possible in order that the slot can be given to someone else. Please read the above "If you fail to attend" tab for our policy on this matter.

Online Appointments

There are also access to book appointments for the GP online, and the appointments become available at the same time as the available appointments on the phone. You can access these by registering for our online access service at:

https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/

Although you can register online, you will only be able to have full access when we receive proof of identification, and of address. Please contact the surgery on 0161 721 4865 for any clarification needed.

Important Notice

We have ~4000 patients registered at this surgery, and we recognise that sometimes getting an appointment may not be easy, which is why we offer various alternatives

Although we understand that this may be frustrating at times, we do ask that you take in to consideration that it is not the fault of the reception staff if there are no appointments left for that day. They can only offer what is available, and do their best to assist you.

Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
